We are currently recruiting for a Scientist IV to join the Product Feasibility Team within Process Development for a 12 month fixed term contract. The purpose of this role is to plan, execute and report laboratory-based experiments and analytical investigations to support client product development programs.

 

Oxford Biomedica’s Product Feasibility Team consists of experienced scientists that have extensive expertise in lentiviral vector production and analytical assessments. The team are committed to providing high quality data to support progression and optimisation of client products at OXB.

 

Your responsibilities in this role would be:

  • Designing and executing small scale viral vector production experiments for new products and for existing product optimisation.
  • Assessment of viral vectors and process parameters using a range of analytical techniques.
  • Ensuring a high standard of record keeping and documentation of experiments and investigations.
  • Preparation of high-quality content for client review in both presentation and report format.
  • Routine presentation of experimental data to small groups and to the wider department.  
  • Management of a laboratory area and/or specialised equipment.
  • Contributing to departmental ways of working and efficiencies, for example, assisting with training and health and safety systems.

 

We are looking for:

  • Minimum BSc Degree programme level, a postgraduate degree and/or relevant experience.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience in biological research and development or equivalent experience gained elsewhere.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge in Virology and gene therapy would be an advantage.
  • Laboratory technical experience with particular emphasis in one or more of the following: Tissue Culture, Upstream bioreactor processes, qPCR and flow cytometry.
  • Behavioural qualities encompassing an innovative and creative mindset, proactivity, strong collaborative and teamworking skills.
