Scientific Assistant II Process Development

We are currently recruiting for a Scientific Assistant II to provide essential laboratory activities and services to support the Process Development Team.

Oxford Biomedica’s Process Development team consists of experienced Scientists, Assistants and Engineers that have extensive expertise in all aspects of upstream and downstream development.  PR&D take processes from the laboratory “bench” scale and apply process expertise and engineering fundamentals for delivery to Manufacturing.

Your responsibilities in this role would be:

• To schedule and perform Scientific Assistant tasks for the Laboratories.
• Oversee and ensure appropriateness of the stock consumables.
• Working with our Engineering team and external engineers to organize equipment servicing and repair.
• Leading the laboratory equipment servicing & calibration & decontamination.
• Generating and reviewing documentation for new, existing, and retiring laboratory equipment.
• Preparing equipment for processing, including bioreactors, pH/DO probes, incubators & purification systems.
• Assisting in maintaining the health and safety compliance as applicable.
• Cell seeding and cell count activities for analytical assays.

We are looking for:

• Educated to a minimum of GCSE or equivalent qualification.
• A genuine interest and drive to work in science, and a willingness to learn new techniques and skills.
• Previous experience within a regulated laboratory environment.
• The ability to follow written procedures, generate legible records and perform scientific calculations.
• Experience of maintaining aseptic technique & tissue culturing skills
• Knowledge of equipment & instrument calibration.
• Good organisational skills to ensure service to stakeholders.
• Able to use Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook.
